Château Purcari production site of Purcari Wineries gets rooftop solar ; Iberdrola to acquire 96 MW wind and solar in Poland ; NextEnergy signs contracts for 86 MW PV capacity it won in UK’s CfD Allocation Round 4; X-Elio provides details of its 15 MW solar in Japan auction win.

Moldovan winery goes solar: Moldova’s Purcari Wineries has announced a solar power plant for self-consumption to have been switched on at its Château Purcari production site. The rooftop solar plant is equipped with 448 monocrystalline panels with 450W output each and 3-phase inverters. The 202 kW system is expected to generate 240,000 kWh annually, accounting for up to 15% of the winery’s annual necessary electricity from renewable resources and reducing its carbon footprint. Announcing the commissioning on its LinkedIn account, Purcari Wineries said in the future it plans to expand the PV park achieving an 80% coverage of the total energy consumption with green energy.

Iberdrola expands into Polish renewables market: Spain’s Iberdrola has reached a preliminary agreement with August Energy in Poland to acquire 98 MW wind and solar PV capacity. Augusta is a joint venture between Greenvolt’s V-ridium Power Group and asset manager KGAL. This 98 MW includes 6 PV plants with 48 MW combined capacity, and 2 wind farms with 50 MW capacity. All the projects have a 15-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with T-Mobile Polska, and are currently under construction. Iberdrola expects these to come online in 2023. This transaction will take its installed renewable capacity to 261 MW in Poland as it is already invested in wind power space since 2021.

NextEnergy signs contracts for 86 MW solar in UK: NextEnergy Solar Fund has secured subsidized contracts for 86 MW planned additional capacity under UK’s Contracts for Difference (CfD) Allocation Round 4. The CfDs have been secured by the company for 100% of 36 MW Whitecross and 50 MW Hatherden solar projects for 15 years for a strike price of €45.99 per MWh. The contracts will come into effect from March 31, 2025. The Whitecross project is currently under construction and come online in Q1/2023, while the Hatherden project is undergoing grid connection and construction mobilization works. It is expected to become operational in H1/2023.

X-Elio wins 15 MW PV in Japan auction: Spanish renewables company X-Elio has won 15 MW under Japan’s maiden feed-in-tariff (FIP) auction out of 153.7 MW new solar capacity awarded in this process. The Ministry of Economy and Trade Industry (METI) selected X-Elio’s 15 MW project for a 20-year period. It is planned to come up in Yamaguchi Prefecture with an estimated operation date by the end of 2024. X-Elio has been present in Japan since 2012 and has developed 380 MW of renewable energy capacity.
