Yard storage is a storage of containers located in a trucker’s fenced yard instead of a terminal. In the event that it is not possible to deliver a container to its destination before the last free day, the container can be stored in the carrier’s yard, thus bypassing costly demurrage charges. Trucking companies typically impose a daily charge in order to store the container in their yards.
