Ocean freight market update

China – North America

  • Rate changes: The freight rate decreased for the first half of September.
  • Market changes: The port congestion in North America showed a sign of improvement in late August. However, U.S. importers seeking relief from bottlenecks at West Coast gateways are triggering new spikes at East Coast and Gulf Coast ports. Despite some struggle, gateways in North America in general are sufficient to support imports.

China – European

  • Rate changes:  The freight rate decreased for the first half of September.
  • Market changes:  Due to strikes and port congestion in some European ports, a large number of ocean freight services shipping to Europe were cancelled in September, and the market tends to be uncertain.

Air freight/express market update

China – North America

  • Rate changes: For the first half of September, the freight rate of Freight via JL (Economy) decreased. The freight rate of Express via JY (Premium) has dropped significantly in Canada and Mexico.
