Drayage

Drayage is the truck transportation of ocean freight containers. A third-party logistics is hired to deliver containers between ports or to a certain destination. It is a means to design seamless transport by filling the gaps between modes.

Drayage is typically adopted for short-distance travels that link the cargo movement between stations, and shipment to the warehouse. Factors that affect the drayage charge are freight weight, fuel surcharges, delivery time, accessibility of freight destination, the need for special handling, and other factors.
