A container yard (CY) cut-off date is the deadline imposed by the carriers for the shippers to gate-in (check-in) their laden containers prior to the scheduled vessel sailing departure date. Depending on the time and date set forth in the release order for the container, it is typically 48-72 hours prior to the estimated vessel departure (ETD).
